ONCE, TWICE THRICE - MIREYA CASSAR SETS NEW MARKS FOR THE WOMEN’S HAMMER THROW
Pembroke athlete Mireya Cassar breaks the Women’s Hammer Throw National Record in three consecutive throws at today’s Athletics Malta Challenge Meet. For an overall improvement of 3.77m over the previous mark.
In her first competition on home soil since she started her training in Germany, Mireya registered throws of 49.69m, 49.76m and 52.50m to become the first Maltese Female athlete to throw the hammer to a distance of more than 50 meters.
Incidentally this adds up to an unprecedented six Hammer Throw National Records in four competitions so far this year.
And as if this was not enough Mireya also set a new mark for both the U20 and U23 Female Shot Putt, with a throw of 12.14m.
Mireya Cassar is currently at MTG Mannheim Sports, following a specialized and professional training programme in Mannheim, South West Germany under the guidance of International Coach Khalid Wajih.
