P.A at M.A.A.A. Micro Event 2

The Fourth of July being Pembroke Day could not be overlooked by our club bears with pride the name of our host town, in putting up another scintillating performance on the Track & Field in the afternoon of this day. The sprints and jumps were once again our strongest points in this reduced programme appropriately called Micro Event 2.

However, there was nothing micro in our results, as once more Ian Paul Grech struck far and fast, this time in the Long Jump, just 2 cms shy of 7 meters, and after having earlier captured the 100m in a time of 11.09seconds. Hot on his heels in both events was, who else but Jeremy Zammit; and to make it a threesome in the Jumps there was Godfrey Sapiano, in his first appearance at the Stadium this season. Claire Azzopardi carried away the 100m leading a Club quintet that had Janet Richard, Sarah Busuttil, Sean Pledger, and Sara Bartolo, in that order, grouped within one-tenth of a second.

Amazing!

Yet another threesome for the club was in the Long Jump Females event, Claire once more being the protagonist with a leap measured at a delightful 5.99metres, followed in by Rachela Pace and Kimahri Charles.

For the competition opener, hurdler Daniel Saliba, with a burst towards the tape, clocked 15.67 seconds, and to seal the day it was left to Graham Pellegrini, another U18 emerging light, to emulate the absent Christian Luke Chetcuti, winning convincingly the 400m lap in a time of 52.06 seconds.

The Pembroke flag remains flying high! Well done to all our athletes.
